Dear Jesuit Benefactors: This fourth annual online auction is part of Celebration 2010, Jesuit’s annual benefit gala which takes place at the school on Saturday, March 13. The theme for this year’s event is “Once in a Jesuit Blue Moon,” which was derived from an original oil on canvas painting bearing the same name by New Orleans artist Genevieve Liljeberg, whose grandsons are John Tortorich ’08 and Greg Tortorich, currently in his junior year at Jesuit.
With a following that embraces her detailed paintings of race horse scenes, Ms. Liljeberg has been most generous in, first, branching out to painting a Blue Jay, and then donating her original oil on canvas painting that will be part of the live auction the night of Celebration. She has also made available 50 signed and numbered 8 by 10-inch prints (see photo at right) that will be sold, along with a 10 by 14-inch mat, through the Blue Jay Online Boutique. The prints are $100 each.
Two other items of interest will be sold through the Blue Jay Online Boutique — Carrollton & Banks key chains (a popular item last year) — and a newly published Jesuit cookbook (photo below), Blue Jay Gourmet, which is chocked full of hundred of recipes by Blue Jays for Blue Jays. It is Jesuit’s second cookbook and comes some 20 years after publication of the first book of Blue Jay recipes.
The new Jesuit cookbook sells for $25 and is now available through the Blue Jay Online Boutique. However, if you happen to be in the neighborhood, stop by the switchboard (at the Banks Street main entrance) and pick up your own Blue Jay Gourmet. And don’t forget your relatives. They, too, will enjoy their own BJG.
| We hope that prospective bidders to the 2010 online auction will like two new features implemented — the elimination of hidden reserve prices and “Buy It Now” prices! This means that ALL items offered will be sold by the end of the online auction, provided the minimum bid on the item was submitted.
The only items that will roll over to a be auctioned on the night of Celebration will be those items in which the minimum bid was not met — essentially, items that received no bids at all.
This year’s online auction closes on Thursday, March 11, 2010 at 11:01 p.m. (CST). Payment for all items won must be made by Noon on Friday, March 12. Items must be paid for online. Jesuit’s secure online system may be accessed by clicking the Pay for Item link at the bottom of each auction page. Prospective bidders are encouraged to read the Rules of the Auction. As many of you already know, proceeds from the online auction and the Celebration gala help reduce Jesuit’s operating expenses, thus keeping tuition at an affordable level for most families.
Jesuit thanks you for your interest and generosity. We hope to see many of you at the Celebration on Saturday evening, March 13. If you have not already reserved your tickets, click this link and get it done in two minutes: Reserve Your Celebration Tickets Online
