A 57-Minute Ceremony Thursday Evening, May 23, at the Pontchartrain Center in Kenner  The Class of 2013 is ready to graduate moments after the curtain opens on Thursday night, May 23, at the Pontchartrain Center in Kenner.
Two hundred fifty-five Jesuit High School seniors were awarded diplomas by Fr. Raymond Fitzgerald, S.J., president of the school, at Commencement Exercises held Thursday, May 23 at the Pontchartrain Center in Kenner. The Blue Jay Parents’ Club Award for excellence in scholarship was awarded to six seniors who are the co-valedictorians of their class, having graduated with the highest grade point average for four years at Jesuit: Jimmy J. Brown, Andrew J. Burmaster, Peyton L. Fine, Carl E. Hellmers, James R. Sampognaro (who delivered the valedictory address), and Matthew J. Wolff. Corey M. James received the Reverend Father President’s Spiritual Leadership Award, which is presented to the senior who has exerted the greatest spiritual influence on others by living a life exemplifying his Catholic faith. Blaine J. Loupe received The Julia Ferguson McEnerny Memorial Trophy, Donated by Will Gibbons McEnerny of the Class of 1914, which is awarded to the senior who has a good scholastic record, actively participated in co-curricular activities, and possesses those qualities which symbolize “the most representative student of Jesuit High School.” Peyton L. Fine was the recipient of the Very Reverend Father Pedro Arrupe Award, which recognizes the senior who has exemplified the spirit of being a man for others by his participation and excellence in service... |

Quiz Bowl Team Prepares to Wage Battle in the National Tournament to Be Held in New Orleans This Weekend Quiz Bowl Team coach Ron Rossi and his first string lineup will compete in the national tournament during the Memorial Day weekend (May 25-26). Members of the team, which recently won a fifth straight state championship for Jesuit High School, consists of , from left, seniors Dominic Lloyd, Will Emmett, and Peyton Fine (captain), and juniors Kevin Yokum and Ian Calamari.
Jesuit’s Varsity Quiz Bowl team will compete in the National Quiz Bowl Tournament during the Memorial Day weekend (May 25-26, 2013). The tournament, sponsored by the National Association of Academic Competition (NAAC), takes place in a hotel on Convention Center Boulevard in downtown New Orleans. Captained by senior Peyton Fine, Jesuit’s varsity team consists of two other seniors, William Emmett and Dominic Lloyd, and juniors Kevin Yokum and Ian Calamari. The Blue Jay quintet recently emerged as the kings of Louisiana Quiz Bowl by virtue of winning the Division 1 State Championship, which marked the fifth consecutive state title for Jesuit High School.
