 | With temperatures hovering in the high 30s (and feeling much colder), the executive decision was made to move the Patron Party — typically held outside in the Traditions Courtyard — inside to the Jesuit cafeteria. No one wanted to freeze “Under the Big Top,” which was the theme for Celebration 2013. Upon entering the Big Top, guests were greeted by scarf juggler Molly Mueller and ringmaster Collin Phillips, both of whom are juniors and members of the Philelectic Society. Phillips, of course, is a Blue Jay while Mueller attends the Academy of the Sacred Heart.. |

 | A reserved parking spot in the yard for their soon-to-be-senior son Charles was won by Cynthia and Michael Graham ’77 (right) at the live auction. Earlier at the Patron Party, their conversation went something like this:
Cynthia: We really came to bid on the parking space in the yard. Michael (looking a little nervous): It went for $3,000 last year. Cynthia: We need to win it because Charles wakes up every morning at 7:30. Michael: Yeah, but we’re not paying $3,000 for it. Cynthia: I know, that’s way too much. Michael: I’m not paying more than $1,000 for it. Cynthia: Definitely, no more than $1,000.
Later, at the Live Auction... Auctioneer Jeremy Reuther: One parking spot going once, twice... sold to Michael and Cynthia Graham for $2,800. Thank you very much! |
